  1. Is my donation tax deductible?
YES! All donations made to Operation H2O are tax deductible. We are an official 501C3 organization registered with the IRS in the United States of America. At the beginning of each year we print off and send each donor a detailed statement of their donations over the previous year. This statement can be used when filling your taxes.

  2. How do I know my donations are being used wisely?
In effect there is no real way you can know for sure how your money is being used. With that said, please know that no one receives a salary, or any other compensation from this ministry. Therefore all money is used in the ministry. The best way to see how your money is being used is to check back often to our sites and see what is going on. Through our sites we plan to have updates and future plans available year round in our updates section. Check it often and if you have any questions please let us know.

  3. What is the cost of a water well?
The average cost is $1500. We say average because it does vary depending on the depth of the well, and other drilling issues. Every well we do is different, so we have to take an average when projecting our costs and fund raising.

  4. How can you drill these wells so cheap?
I understand that most organizations including other Christian organizations and churches are charging $3000-$10,000 per well. Our wells are cheaper for a few reasons. First, we don't pay for any labor. We have one full time missionary that we employ. He gathers support in the local communities, and trains small teams on how to drill these wells. So the people drill their own wells. Second we have no overhead costs. Most other organizations pay salaries, insurance, paper, envelopes, and many other types of overhead to run the ministry. The board of operation H2O volunteer their time and talents to support the ministry. We also do our fund raising, and communications primarily through the web. These are the main factors that allow us to drill wells so cheap.

  5. What does the $1500 pay for?
The $1500 dollars pays for, the hand pump, casing, cement, bricks, and cost associated with getting the supplies to the site. It also helps pay for replacement drill bits, drill steam, rope, and other things that wear out or break over time.

  6. What if you hit a rock or some other object you can not go through, have you lost the $500, and wasted my money?
NO!!! If we can't finish the well for some reason, and this does happen, we are out $0. We simply pull everything up out of the hole, and move over to an new area and try again. This is one of the great things about our drilling method, if the well is not completed all you have is a small 3-5 inch hole to fill in and plug. All the materials, and pump are then used on the next well.
